Development Motor-2, snuggly housed in a climate-controlled building, has been chilled down to 40 degrees for the August 31 static firing. The development motor is the largest and most powerful solid rocket motor designed for flight. DM-2 is managed by the Ares Projects Office at NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Ala.
