Undulatus Asperatus Clouds

Undulatus asperatus clouds over Ballston, Va., on the morning of April 13, 2010. The image was captured from inside a 12th-floor office at the National Science Foundation headquarters. Meteorologists are proposing that the asperatus clouds, which are rare, be designated as the first new cloud type to be named in over 50 years. Consideration is ongoing at this time.
