June 1, 2011
Resort City of Acapulco appears in this north-looking view, photographed from the Earth-orbiting Space Shuttle Columbia with the Electronic Still Camera (ESC). The airport lies on a narrow neck of land between the sea and a large coastal lagoon. This mission marks the first time NASA has released in mid-flight electronically-downlinked color images that feature geographic subject matter.
