STS085-706-051
June 6, 2011
This view documenting the release from the Space Shuttle Discovery of Cryogenic Infrared Spectrometers and Telescopes for the Atmosphere-Shuttle Pallet Satellite-2 (CRISTA-SPAS-2) was taken early in the flight (August 7, 1997) over northwest Canada. The viewing direction is east. The swirl of cloud indicates a storm which tracked over Canada during the flight, limiting the topographic photo opportunities for the subsequent several days.
