Astronauts Winston E. Scott (left) and Takao Doi await the right opportunity to grab onto the Spartan satellite. Later, when Space Shuttle Columbia had moved closer to Spartan, the two were able to successfully grab the satellite manually and berth it in Columbia's cargo bay. Scott, a NASA mission specialist astronaut, was marking his second space flight and his second Extravehicular Activity (EVA). Doi, an international mission specialist stationed at the Johnson Space Center (JSC), represents the National Space Development Agency (NASDA) of Japan.
