An unidentified Neurolab crew member, seated in the off-axis rotator, is ready to be spun, thus stimulating the inner ear. Also known as the Visual and Vestibular Integration System (VVIS), the centrifuge was developed by the European Space Agency (ESA) for Neurolab. The system can be set up to spin with the crew member sitting up or lying down.
