Payload specialist James A. (Jim) Pawelczyk smiles while preparing to measure nerve signals of a crew mate positioned in the lower body negative pressure (LBNP) device in the Spacelab science module aboard the Earth-orbiting Space Shuttle Columbia. This particular Neurolab test studies the nerve signals traveling from the brain to the blood vessels.
