This Electronic Still Camera (ESC) image shows Dafydd R. (Dave) Williams, mission specialist, with the Virtual Environment Generator (VEG) experiment in the Neurolab, of the Earth-orbiting Space Shuttle Columbia. The VEG tracks the motion of the head. The study looks at how astronauts use vision, the vestibular organs of the inner ear, and pressure cues to determine where they are and what they are looking at while in space.
