STS90-E-5175

This Electronic Still Camera (ESC) image shows astronauts Richard A. Searfoss, commander, and Scott D. Altman (partially out of frame), pilot, performing in-flight maintenance (IFM) onboard the Earth-orbiting Space Shuttle Columbia. Having installed backup lithium hydroxide canisters, the crew performs IFM on a shutdown Regenerative Carbon Dioxide Removal System (RCRS). With a one-inch piece of aluminum tape, and ingenuity of ground engineers, the crew removed a hose clamp and used the tape to bypass a leaking check valve.
