Astronaut Claude Nicollier, mission specialist representing the European Space Agency (ESA), poses near the controls of Discovery's remote manipulator system (RMS) robot arm, a system he's worked with on the current flight and on previous missions as well. Nicollier fulfills a different role later in this flight when he dons an extravehicular mobility unit (EMU) space suit to participate in one of the telescope-servicing space walks.
