Among the volcanoes photographed by the STS-101 crew aboard the Space Shuttle Atlantis were Ruapehu (with snow) and Tongariro (more eroded), both active on North Island, New Zealand. The south end of Lake Taupo is visible in the 70mm camera's view. The smaller lake is Rotoaira.
