A low-angle still photo captures the Space Shuttle Atlantis lifting off from KSC's Launch Complex 39 at 4:44:19 p.m. (EDT), April 8, 2002. Seven astronauts were en route to the International Space Station (ISS) for a week of work on the orbital outpost, including the installation of the S0 (S-zero) truss--centerpiece of the station's main truss.
