Hurricane Ivan

Hurricane Ivan is seen in this NOAA satellite image taken at 5:45 p.m. EDT, Friday Sept. 10, 2004, as the strong Category 4 hurricane packing sustained winds near 140 mph approaches Jamaica. AT 11 PM EDT the eye of hurricane Ivan was located near latitude 17.5 north longitude 76.9 west or about 35 miles south of Kingston Jamaica. Ivan is moving toward the west-northwest at near 10 mph. Maximum sustained winds have increase to near 155 mph with higher gusts and is expected to strengthen during the next 24 hours.
