Galaxies from the Survey for Ionization in Neutral Gas Galaxies
January 25, 2005
A montage of six representative galaxies from the SINGG (Survey for Ionization in Neutral Gas Galaxies) sample. Each image shows the continuum-subtracted hydrogen emission (seen largely as bright knots over the galaxy disk) superposed on the R-band image (the smooth, underlying component). Note the diversity of the amount and location of star formation amongst different galaxies.
