JSC2006-E-14912 (13 April 2006) --- NEEMO-9 astronaut/aquanaut Dafydd R. (Dave) Williams performs a telementored arthroscopy simulation in the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) Aquarius Underwater Laboratory, located off the coast of Key Largo, Florida, for the NASA Extreme Environment Mission Operations (NEEMO) project. This Center for Minimal Access Surgery (CMAS) experiment may one day enable expert surgeons to guide non-physicians through the procedures necessary to provide emergency surgical care to astronauts injured during space exploration missions.
