(05/16/2007) --- KENNEDY SPACE CENTER, FLA. -- In Hangar M on Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, the first stage of the Delta II rocket that will launch the Dawn spacecraft is ready to be transferred to a transporter for its move to the launch pad. Dawn's mission is to explore two of the asteroid belt's most intriguing and dissimilar occupants: asteroid Vesta and the dwarf planet Ceres.
