These micromachined silicon pins can imbibe solutions of DNA or proteins and, by virtue of their precisely fabricated tips and reservoirs, can accurately and precisely deliver small drops (~200pL) of these solutions to a substrate to create a so-called "DNA Microarray." This work was supported by a grant from the National Science Foundation's Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Program. (Date of Image: 2004) [One of four related images.
