GALEX First Light - NUV

This is the first image obtained after launch with the GALEX Near ultraviolet (NUV) detector.
Although the exposure time for this image was only 300 seconds, more then 1500 ultraviolet sources are detected. The sources are stars in our Milky Way galaxy and distant galaxies.
