'Real colour' representation of the sources detected by XMM-Newton in the Lockman Hole region.
January 24, 2013
The red, green and blue coding refers respectively to the 0.5-2, 2-4.5 and 4.5-10 keV bands. Several diffuse sources with red colours are X-ray clusters of galaxies already identified by ROSAT data. But XMM-Newton clearly identifies a number of green and blue objects, corresponding to obscured faint sources.
