Fires and Smoke in Indonesia
February 7, 2013
These true-color Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) images show scores of fires (red dots) creating a thick blanket of smoke over Indonesia. At top right is Borneo (with Malaysia along the northeast coast), at bottom is the narrow island of Java, and at left is Sumatra. Between the islands is the Java Sea.
