Fires in Eastern Australia

These true-color Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) images from late fall 2002 and early winter 2003 show fires (red dots) burning throughout eastern Australia. The whole continent has endured an especially brutal fire season as a result of a record-breaking drought.
