Africa’s north-of-the-equator fire season is still underway on January 28, 2003. This Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) image captured by the Aqua satellite shows scores of fires (red dots) mingling their smoke with Saharan dust blowing out over the Atlantic.
