Bermuda Islands

March 27, 2013
A popular vacation spot 570 nautical miles off the coast of North Carolina, the Bermuda Islands are 150 small islands formed from the exposed peaks of an underwater volcanic mountain. The eight largest islands are arranged in a fish hook shape and are tied together with bridges and causeways. Coral reefs, the northernmost in the Atlantic, surround the land. Their calcium carbonate shells tint the water a bright blue-green color in this image.
