Snow in Northeastern United States

April 3, 2013
A winter’s storm left the entire northeastern United States and southeastern Canada covered with a blanket of white snow. The region’s numerous rivers and lakes form brilliant white streaks against the winter brown landscape that underlies the snow. This effect reveals inland water features that are not otherwise easy to see in MODIS imagery. The Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) acquired this image on January 15, 2004.
