South of Lake Tahoe, the Angora Fire continued to threaten residences, recreation areas, and cultural resources in California on June 27, 2007. According to the morning report from the National Interagency Fire Center, the 3,100-acre fire was 44 percent contained. This image of the fire was captured by the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on NASA’s Aqua satellite on June 26 at 2:35 p.m. local time.
