The NASA-DLR Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy 747SP is framed by a spectacular rainbow following a winter storm that swept through Christchurch, New Zealand in mid-July 2013. The flying observatory was on its first Southern Hemisphere astronomical science deployment, operating out of the United States Antarctic Program facility at the Christchurch airport.
