(23 Jan. 2011) --- The unpiloted ISS Progress 40 supply vehicle departs from the International Space Station's Pirs Docking Compartment at 6:43 p.m. (CST) on Jan. 23, 2011. Loaded with trash and discarded items, Progress 40 was deorbited at 11:16 p.m., subsequently burning up in Earth's atmosphere. The departure of Progress 40 clears the way for the next unpiloted supply ship, Progress 41, which is set to launch Jan. 27 from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan bringing three tons of food, fuel and supplies for the Expedition 26 crew.
