Wells' Dairy Selects Prescient to Power Its Vendor Managed Inventory Program

Prescient Applied Intelligence, Inc. (OTCBB: PPID), a leading provider of supply chain and advanced commerce solutions for retailers and suppliers, today announced that Wells' Dairy, Inc. has selected Prescient to power its vendor managed inventory (VMI) initiative. VMI is a program in which the supplier is responsible for proactively managing the replenishment of its retail partners' inventory levels.
Wells' Dairy, based in Le Mars, Iowa, is the largest family-owned and managed dairy processor in the United States. The company manufactures Blue Bunny® ice cream, frozen dairy desserts and novelties.
Wells' Dairy is not new to Prescient solutions. In 2002, the company implemented Prescient's enterprise supply chain planning suite to measure demand, generate suggested orders, and drive the volume and sequence of its manufacturing lines.
However, the company needed to expand its Prescient capabilities to conduct VMI with large customers that incorporate warehousing and distribution services.
"When one of our significant business partners approached us about participating in VMI, we saw it as an opportunity to forge a stronger relationship with them," said Mike Kooistra, director of information services at Wells' Dairy. "Prescient's VMI solution will allow us to take more control of ordering and replenishment, avoid lost sales, and provide higher service levels to our customers."
"More and more, we are seeing suppliers like Wells' Dairy extend their relationships with their business partners to drive replenishment of their own inventory in retail DCs and stores to prevent out of stocks," said Jane Hoffer, president and CEO of Prescient. "Wells' Dairy is staying ahead of the curve by expanding its Prescient footprint to include VMI."
