German rail engineers have won an appeal allowing them to resume strikes for more pay from employer Deutsche Bahn.

But the GDL engineers union won’t order walkouts until after the next round of wage talks, set for July 19, the Frankfurt-based group said Saturday.

Europe’s largest rail network and its train engineers ended a day of pay talks Friday in deadlock after managers refused to improve a wage agreement reached July 9 with the railway’s other workers. The GDL engineers held three-hour strikes July 3 and July 10.
