Intercap Merchant Partners Releases Its Food and Beverage Industry Corporate Finance Data Book for First Half 2007

The report highlights food and beverage industry activity in the equity capital markets, debt capital markets and merger & acquisition markets for the six month period ending June 30, 2007. Equity Capital Markets
In the U.S., $130.5 billion was raised in public equity offerings in the first half of 2007, marking the second-largest first half total since 2000. Notable food and beverage public offerings included the $169.4 million IPO of B&G Foods.
Private Placement Activity
U.S. private placements reached $68.9 billion in the first half of 2007. This amazing first half total compares to $88.0 billion for all of 2006. Notable food and beverage private placement transactions included $25 million secured by New Sun Nutrition, a maker of functional food and beverage products.
Mergers & Acquisitions
Global M&A activity hit $2.7 trillion, a 62% increase over the first half of 2006 and a new record. In the U.S., financial sponsor activity accounted for 36% of overall M&A activity versus 24% globally. Notable food and beverage deals included Coca-Cola Company's acquisition of Vitamin Water manufacturer Energy Brands for $4.2 billion.
