Aloha Airlines, recognized as one of the nation's top airlines for on-time performance and fewest customer complaints by the DOT's Air Travel Consumer Report, has selected Abanco, LLC's Mobile Data Technology for in-flight sales and inventory control. Abanco's MDT solution will enable Aloha to increase in-flight efficiencies and customer experience on its transpacific flights by moving to a "cashless" environment through the use of credit cards while in-flight. Additionally, MDT will provide Aloha robust tools and reports to maintain Aloha's in-flight profit center inventory from ground to air.
"We're honored that Aloha Airlines has chosen Abanco to help meet this critical need," said Tracy Metzger, Abanco's President. "Working to support Aloha's objectives to be recognized as among the best and most customer friendly airlines in the world supports our the mission for our product development. We look forward to working with Aloha on this important project."
Abanco will be supplying Aloha MDT's patent-pending handheld units with a flight attendant friendly user interface to manage all in-flight sales. The units have robust fraud controls that enforce a tight supply chain from ground to air to ground. Abanco MDT is a pioneer of airline handheld inflight sales management and inventory control, having helped lead the standards development of the technology beginning in 2002 and has been operating daily on US carriers since early 2003.
Aloha is "cashless" on its flights between the U.S. Mainland and the Islands. The airline will expand the cashless concept to its interisland routes later this year.
