Orscheln Products Expands and Installs New Automated Barrel Zinc Electroplating Line

Orscheln Products LLC, Moberly, Missouri, has recently expanded and installed a new automated, barrel zinc electroplating line.

This Orscheln location offers screw machine products, plating and coatings and is ISO 9001:2000 registered.

The new 26-station automated Jessup plating line plates with zinc trivalent chromate (clear and black with sealers) in barrels (18″ x 48″) that can handle a load of 200 lbs each.

“We needed the new line to support our own plating needs and expand our offerings to our customers,” stated Jerry Frans, senior sales representative. The expansion enables us to bring all our operations into one building. We are now a completely hexavalent- free and ROHS-compliant facility.”

Frans noted that the new line is the first automated line available for custom work in the area.

Orscheln Products offers over 20 variations of plating in addition to dip-spin Magni-coating, zinc phosphating and stainless steel passivation. A unique coating at the company is the Elisha EMC (electrolytic mineral coat) process that, when used with a topcoat, can yield very high salt spray results (over 1000 hrs NSS), is excellent for parts that get deformed, is a great alternative to stainless steel, and is an replacement for Hexavalent Chromate, Cadmium, and other heavy metals.

The company has 42 screw machines (single and multi- spindle)including six newer CNC versions. They specialize in high- volume, long-run, precision screw machine components, but can handle low volume orders as well.

The screw machine operation works with steel, brass, aluminum, copper, stainless steel and plastics up to 1 3/4″ in diameter in round, hex, and square stock as well as tubing.
