Phoenix Airport Dangerously Understaffed

Understaffing at the Phoenix Sun Harbor Airport has lead to a security lapse of 4 1/2 hours each night, KNXV-TV, Phoenix, reported.
The TV station Monday said that due to a lack of Transportation Security Administration officials on-hand each night for that amount of time, security at the international airport is dangerously lax.
Surveillance tapes allegedly show security guards left to be the airport's sole defense allowing passengers to board without proper security checks.
A similar lack of security is allegedly also visible in relation to cargo and employees passing through airport checkpoints, the station said.
Airport security expert Larry Wansley reportedly reviewed those surveillance tapes and said the nightly security lapse is an invitation for danger.
You've got the front door, TSA that has locked it up for the better part of the day, the majority of the day, he told KNXV-TV. And then you throw open the back door to be exploited by those that would simply destroy us.
KNXV-TV said that TSA and airport officials refused to comment on the allegations.
