FLIGHTS BOOST Prestwick Lands Three New Euro Air Routes
BUDGET airline Ryanair today announced three new routes from Prestwick.
And it also relaunched services to the French ski resort of Grenoble.
From the autumn, Scots travellers can fly to the Hungarian capital Budapest, Kaunas in Lithuania – and Belfast.
To mark the launch, passengers will be able to snap up 250,000 seats for just GBP10 – including taxes and charges.
The new routes, along with the Grenoble relaunch, means the airline will now fly to 25 destinations from Ayrshire.
The first of the new routes, twice-weekly flights to Kaunas, will begin on October 28. The city is home to FC Kaunas, sponsored by Hearts’ controversial owner Vladimir Romanov.
Daily flights to Belfast are due to begin on October 30, while services to Budapest will go three times a week from November 1. Weekly Grenoble flights will begin from December 22 to coincide with the Christmas holidays and winter ski season.
Ryanair’s Bridget Dowling said today: “These four routes will further boost holiday and tourism links from Glasgow Prestwick Airport while delivering passenger savings.”
Ryanair began operations in Scotland at Prestwick in May 1994 and has expanded to operate 28 routes across Europe, serving 11 countries from Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Prestwick and Inverness.
It expects to carry about 50 million scheduled passengers in the current year.
