Portland-Area Projects Get Federal Funding Nod
Four Portland-area projects won a funding victory this week when the 2008 Transportation-HUD Appropriations Bill, H.R. 3074, was passed by the House Tuesday night by a vote of 268 to 153.
In addition to providing $80 million for the current project to extend the Max light-rail line along Interstate 205, the bill provides $100,000 to renovate a building on the PSU campus into a structure with space for retail businesses, student service programs research and community outreach. The Columbia Crossing project to improve capacity on Interstate 5 between Portland and Vancouver is slated to receive $250,000, while $150,000 will go toward expanding the Sandy transit fleet to provide low-cost bus trips for workers, students, seniors and people with disabilities.
