Hearings to Be Held in Bid to Erect Second Wind Farm in Southwest Ontario
July 30, 2007
OWEN SOUND, Ont. (CP) – A hearing will be held today in Canadian Hydro Developers’ bid to erect a second wind turbine farm in southwestern Ontario.
The Ontario Municipal Board will consider plans for the 88-turbine Melancthon 2 project north of Shelburne, Ont.
Phase one of the project involved 45 wind turbines in the area.
The second phase of Melancthon has been slowed by a complex approvals process and attempts by some residents to block the project.
Canadian Hydro Developers has environmental clearance from the provincial government for the project.
The Calgary-based company, which owns five wind farms, will appear before another Ontario Municipal Board hearing on Sept. 11.
