Airline Worker Killed at N.C. Airport

MORRISVILLE, N.C. – An accident involving a plane and a baggage tug killed an American Eagle worker Tuesday evening at Raleigh-Durham International Airport, an airline spokesman said.
The worker was a fleet service clerk, and the aircraft was an Embraer jet, said John Hotard, an American Eagle spokesman in Fort Worth, Texas. Fleet clerks load bags and perform similar tasks, he said.
The airline was not releasing the name of the victim because his family had not been notified, he said. American Eagle was investigating.
No flight operations were affected because the aircraft was scheduled to be at the airport overnight, said airport spokeswoman Colleen Fischvogt. No passengers were on the plane at the time, she said.
