Frontier Brings the Beaches of Mazatlan to the Shores of San Diego
DENVER, Aug. 2 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — While San Diego certainly has the sun and the sand, Mazatlan can take San Diego travelers a few steps further, offering a world-class resort with the appeal of international travel and the lure of historic Mexico. Today, Frontier Airlines announces new non-stop service between San Diego (SAN) and Mazatlan, Mexico (MZT), with the Department of Transportation’s (DOT) final approval of the route. Tickets for the new route are on sale now at http://www.frontierairlines.com/. The convenient Saturday morning departure, which starts Dec. 15, 2007, will utilize Frontier’s new fleet of Airbus A319 with DIRECTV service and four pay-per-view movies in every seatback. Frontier is offering special introductory fares between the cities for as low as $99* each way. These special fares must be purchased by 9:59 p.m. MDT on Sept. 12, 2007, for travel between Dec. 15, 2007 and March 5, 2008.
Today’s announcement of new San Diego to Mazatlan service follows Frontier’s news yesterday that it was beginning service between Cancun (CUN) and Milwaukee (MKE), its 12th U.S. gateway to Mexico. The low-cost carrier also boasts service to two Canadian destinations and will launch service from its Denver hub to Costa Rica on Nov. 30, 2007. San Diego is one of four California cities that offer Frontier non-stops to Mexico. The other three are Los Angeles, San Jose and Sacramento to Los Cabos (SJD).
Frontier’s newest service provides a quick, comfortable and affordable way to experience the fun and sun of one of the closest major Mexican resort destinations to the U.S. border. Mazatlan provides visitors with a long list of activities including fishing on the Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Cortes, tours of Mazatlan’s historic downtown, dining and shopping, and a number of kid-friendly activities. Frontier also flies to Mazatlan non-stop from Denver, and began non-stop service from Dallas to Mazatlan in June.

Maximum stay in Mexico is 120 days. Additional costs for Federal International Air Transportation Tax of $30.20 roundtrip. All international fares are subject to U.S. arrival and departure taxes and agricultural, immigrations and customs fees of up to $41 roundtrip are not included in the fare amount. For travel to some countries, additional airport, transportation, embarkation, security and passenger service taxes/surcharges of up to $140 will apply depending on destination.
