AirTran Airways Reports All-Time Record Traffic in July

ORLANDO, Fla., Aug. 2 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — AirTran Airways, a subsidiary of AirTran Holdings, Inc. , today reported all-time record traffic for the month of July 2007. The airline reported that revenue passenger miles (RPMs), available seat miles (ASMs), enplaned passengers, and load factors for July represent new all-time company records.

For July, traffic grew by 30.1 percent to more than 1.8 billion RPMs based on a 23 percent increase in capacity. The company’s load factor for the month was 86.0 percent. The airline enplaned more than 2.4 million passengers for the month, a 22.7 percent increase over July 2006.

In the month of July, AirTran Airways celebrated the delivery of its 50th Boeing 737 aircraft and announced an all-time record for its second quarter earnings, with a net income of $41.5 million. In addition, the airline’s chairman and CEO, Joe Leonard, was honored as the 2007 Airline Strategy Award recipient for Low Cost and Regional Leadership by Airline Business magazine. In terms of flights, AirTran Airways began nonstop service between McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas, Nev., and General Mitchell International Airport in Milwaukee, Wis., and expanded service from the Portland International Jetport in Portland, Maine, to Orlando International Airport from seasonal to year-round.

The company also announced new daily nonstop service between Stewart International Airport in Newburgh, N.Y., and Palm Beach International Airport in West Palm Beach, Fla., and announced seasonal nonstop service between Lambert-St. Louis International Airport in St. Louis, Mo., and Sarasota/Bradenton International Airport in Sarasota, Fla.
