MOSCOW. Aug 7 (Interfax) – Atomstroyexport has completed the planned repairs of the second power unit at Tianwan NPP and brought its operation to 100% capacity for the final stage of commissioning the unit into commercial operation.

Between July 15 and August 3 experts from Atomstroyexport and their Chinese colleagues conducted repair and maintenance operations on the turbine and machinery. After the capacity is raised, a set of dynamic tests will be conducted involving the shutdown of the main pumps, and also tests involving a drop in capacity to self- sufficiency level, Atomstroyexport said in a statement.

Tianwan is the biggest NPP in China. Its first power unit was transferred to the customer on June 2. Its reactor started operating at full capacity for the first time on July 10 upon the receipt of a relevant permit from the Chinese oversight authority. As of Tuesday, energy production at the second power unit exceeded 607,000 mWt/h.

Atomstroyexport, a leading company building nuclear power stations around the world, is building two power units at Tianwan, each with a capacity of 1,000 mWt.
