KYIV. Aug 13 (Interfax) – Kharkiv-based Turboatom and Russia’s Power Machines (Silovye Mahsiny) have won a tender to deliver hydro turbines to the La Yesca hydroelectric power plant in Mexico.

They have also agreed to jointly provide turbines for the Shangxigou and Yinpan hydroelectric power plants in China.

The results of the tender were announced in Mexico last week, and a $35.5-million contract is to be signed in September, Turboatom said.

Turboatom and Power Machines jointly put together a technical and commercial offer for the sale of two hydro turbines with a single unit capacity of 380 megawatts to the La Yesca hydroelectric power plant, which will be part of a cascade of hydroelectric power plants on the Rio Grande River. The design of the turbines belongs to Turboatom.

In the future, Turboatom and Power Machines plan to jointly sign a contract for the delivery of turbines to Mexico’s La Parota hydroelectric power plant and to gain a stronger foothold on the energy market in Latin American countries, including Brazil, Panama and Argentina.

An agreement on joint deliveries to China’s Shangxigou and Yinpan was reached during last week’s visit of Power Machines sales department director Sergei Rodionov to Kharkiv, the company said.

After the contract is signed in September 2007, efforts will be launched to design and manufacture four Francis-type turbines with a single unit capacity of 165 megawatts for the Shangxigou power plant and another four with a single unit capacity of 150 megawatts for the Yinpan facility.

The total amount of the deal stands at $30 million, including $19 million for Shangxigou and $11 for Yinpan.
