MSV Launches Custom Capacity Service(TM) Offering on Next Generation Satellites
Posted on: Tuesday, 14 August 2007, 09:20 CDT
Mobile Satellite Ventures LP (MSV) announced today the initiation of sales of Custom Capacity Service™ as part of its portfolio of services offered on MSV's next generation satellite system.
Custom Capacity Service is a contract service that can be fully customized according to bandwidth, satellite downlink power, and beam coverage; and may be contracted for the life of the satellite system. The contracting customers will be able to choose their own air interface and further realize maximum flexibility by reconfiguring the satellite beams as needed during the life of the contract. In effect, this allows the customer its own virtual satellite system at a fraction of the cost.
"In response to customer demand, Mobile Satellite Ventures is making a limited amount of dedicated and unique satellite bandwidth available to private network service providers to enable the advancement of creative mobile satellite communications applications and solutions in the marketplace," said John Mattingly, president of satellite services for MSV. "A satellite operator has never before been able to offer the tailored, reconfigurable, high-performance satellite capacity that MSV is offering. End users will greatly benefit from the enhanced applications that result from the creativity that service providers will be able to leverage using MSV's Custom Capacity Service."
MSV is continuing to develop its hybrid satellite-terrestrial communications network, based on MSV's patented ancillary terrestrial component (ATC) technology. The company expects its next-generation network will provide seamless, transparent and ubiquitous wireless coverage of the United States and Canada to conventional handsets. MSV plans to launch two of the most powerful commercial satellites ever built that will enable this network to support communications in a variety of areas including public safety, homeland security, aviation, transportation and entertainment, by providing a platform for interoperable, user-friendly and feature-rich voice and high-speed data services.
"Traditional satellite operators have not had the satellite power and ability to reconfigure beams to the extent that MSV will have with its planned satellites, which will be two of the most powerful commercial satellites ever built. The power and flexibility of MSV's next-generation system enables us to respond to customer demand in ways that other satellite solutions providers are not able to. With these satellites, our Custom Capacity Service, and planned portfolio of next-generation mobile satellite services, MSV is redefining wireless communications," concluded Mattingly.
