Japan: Tsunami Alert Issued for Pacific Coast Areas From Hokkaido to Okinawa

Tokyo, Aug. 17 Kyodo – The Japan Meteorological Agency early Friday issued a tsunami alert for Pacific coast areas from Hokkaido in northern Japan to Okinawa Prefecture in southwestern Japan.
The alert was issued after a powerful earthquake with a magnitude of 8.0 struck off Peru’s Pacific coast on Wednesday.
