Posted on: Thursday, 16 August 2007, 21:21 CDT
Airline passengers and airport workers are advised that they should expect intermittent delays and allot extra time driving to and from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) during the next two weekends, August 18 and 19, and August 25 and 26, due to commercial film production on Interstate 105 (I-105 Century Freeway) near the airport.
The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) and the Los Angeles Department of Transportation have announced the following freeway and street closures for August 18, 19, 25 and 26:
-- Eastbound Century Freeway (I-105) 3 a.m. until Midnight -- Full freeway closures of eastbound I-105 between Sepulveda Boulevard and La Cienega Boulevard, and the I-105 connectors to I-405. (To accommodate the closure of the eastbound I-105 on-ramp at Sepulveda Boulevard, both the upper and lower level roadway ramps exiting the LAX passenger terminal area to southbound Sepulveda Boulevard will be closed during this period. Motorists exiting the passenger terminal area will be directed to use eastbound Century Boulevard to southbound Aviation Boulevard to reach the eastbound I-105 on-ramp or to continue southbound to reach the coastal communities. The Aviation Boulevard on- ramp to eastbound I-105 will remain open with intermittent traffic breaks.) -- Westbound Century Freeway (I-105) 6 a.m. until 8 p.m. -- Westbound I-105 between I-405 and Sepulveda Boulevard, as well as the I-405 connector to westbound I-105 will remain open with intermittent traffic breaks. -- Imperial Highway 6 a.m. until 8 p.m. -- Eastbound and westbound Imperial Highway between La Cienega Boulevard and Sepulveda Boulevard will remain open with intermittent traffic breaks.
Los Angeles City traffic officers and signage will provide directions to motorists for using alternative routes during the intermittent traffic breaks. The traffic breaks are expected when filming actually occurs, with each film "take" to not exceed six minutes in duration.
