NEW YORK, Aug. 17, 2007 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) -- Delta Air Lines (NYSE:DAL) named Mike Medeiros as vice president of Airport Customer Service for New York's John. F. Kennedy airport, underscoring the airline's commitment to continued growth and improvement at the city's largest international hub.
"Maintaining our focus on New York, a vital part of Delta's continued success, requires the hands-on leadership of a vice president and JFK will benefit greatly from Mike's operational expertise, valuable guidance and passion for customer service," said Joe Kolshak, executive vice president and chief of Operations for Delta. "One of Mike's key roles will be continued partnership with the Federal Aviation Administration and Port Authority of New York and New Jersey to improve operational efficiency at JFK."
In his new role, Medeiros will oversee airport customer service functions from the check-in lobby to baggage handling. Medeiros will oversee Delta's continued investment in JFK, both in facility improvements and team development. In addition to working closely with the FAA and Port Authority of New York and New Jersey to help improve the efficiency of JFK airport operations, he will continue to focus on building a strong Delta team at JFK.

"His well-rounded Delta experience - from frontline customer service to human resources - makes Mike perfectly suited to continue developing Delta's customer service team at JFK and creating an outstanding international gateway for customers."
In nearly 20 years with Delta, Medeiros has served as a customer service agent and worked in Customer Care. He also supported Delta's Airport Customer Service division as director of Human Resources, director of Airport Customer Service for the East, and most recently corporate director at JFK.
