One Person Taken Off the Ruling Kazakh Nur Otan’s Party List

Astana, 22 August: The Central Electoral Commission [CEC] confirms the legitimacy of Nur Otan’s party list of candidates for deputy of Majlis of the parliament, the chairman of the CEC, Kuandyk Turgankulov, said following today’s meeting of the commission.

“The list is absolutely legitimate, but one person fewer now,” Turgankulov said.

He explained that at a meeting yesterday, 21 August, the CEC took Sergey Nikolayevich Lapshin off the list of the Nur Otan party because he is a citizen of the Russian Federation. [Passage omitted: Kazakh authorities got information on Lapshin's citizenship from Russian authorities]
