Pratt & Whitney Canada (P&WC) has delivered the 400th PW150A turboprop engine to Bombardier Aerospace for the Q400 regional airliner. P&WC is a United Technologies (NYSE: UTX) company.
"The delivery of our 400th PW150A for Bombardier's Q400 is a great milestone to celebrate," said Keyvan Fard, Vice President, Regional Airline and Helicopter Engines, P&WC. "It underscores once again our leadership in regional airline turboprops worldwide."
The 5,000 shp PW150A went into service on the Bombardier Aerospace Q400 in 2000, providing the 70- to 80-seat airline market with jet-like speed together with turboprop fuel efficiency, low emissions, excellent operating economics and P&WC's trademark dependability. Built with a low parts count and equipped with a dual-channel, full-authority digital control (FADEC) and advanced diagnostic capabilities, the PW150A is also designed for ease of operation and maintenance.
The PW150A turboprop engine is the latest member in P&WC's successful PW100 family, powering aircraft in more than 100 countries with over 100 million operating hours to its credit. "The PW100 family continues to grow in popularity as fuel efficiency and green technologies become increasingly important," noted Fard. "Advances in our turboprop engine technology over the years have helped airlines go beyond traditional turboprop markets and secure new opportunities where these aircraft are proving to make excellent business sense."
Operators of PW100 engines are supported by P&WC's industry-leading global customer support. This includes over 30 P&WC-owned and designated service facilities around the world, field support representatives on all major continents, a 24/7 Customer First Centre for rapid expert support, the most advanced diagnostic capabilities for this market and the largest pool of P&WC rental and exchange engines in the industry.
