I Welcome the New Airline

Repost This

Thank goodness for the possible introduction of some competition for airline pricing out of Wellington (August 22). I recently had an early- morning experience of rushing to the computer to make an on- line reservation for my wife from Wellington-Christchurch, only to find most cheap fares blocked.

So I committed to the best price available, which was $174. Over breakfast I opened the DomPost to find Air NZ boasting cheap fares to the same destination for only $79.

But wait — there are the usual conditions in the “fine print”. The customer feels duped.

Then some airlines force you to fly first class when you try to slip across the Tasman using frequent-flyer points for a well- earned little break on the Sunshine Coast.

Our family would love to come to the capital for the school holidays but the price is just prohibitive. Why should this be?

I welcome Pacific Blue to Wellington and ask it to take some of the mystique out of its fare structures in presenting its new fresh image.
