American Airlines to Start New Services

Posted on: Monday, 27 August 2007, 12:14 CDT

American Airlines is planning to begin two new routes early next year to Milan, Italy, and Barcelona, Spain, from JFK International Airport, as well as a second daily roundtrip between JFK and London's Stansted Airport.

Beginning May 1, 2008, American will begin flying to Milan and Barcelona, and on April 7, 2008, American will launch a second daily flight to Stansted Airport in London. American's initial new service between JFK and Stansted is scheduled to begin on October 28. The return flights from these new European destinations will first launch on the next day following the launch dates.

American will fly all three new routes with its two-class (business and economy/coach) Boeing 767-300 aircraft with 221 seats, including 30 next generation business class seats.

"These new routes further demonstrate American's commitment to New York as an important international gateway," said Dan Garton, American's executive vice president of marketing. "That commitment equates to 244 daily departures from our New York airports to 59 nonstop destinations, 26 of which are international. Adding Barcelona, Milan and London Stansted will greatly benefit our New York customers as well as those who connect to these flights from elsewhere."
