American Airlines will add nonstop service between Lambert St. Louis International Airport, Missouri, and Abraham Lincoln Capital Airport in Springfield, Illinois, from November 4, 2007.
AmericanConnection will operate the round-trip service between the two cities, using a 50-seat ERJ-145 jet.
Rhonda Hamm-Niebruegge, American's managing director for the St. Louis hub, said: "These new flights will allow Springfield customers to make easy connections to American, AmericanConnection and American Eagle flights from our St. Louis hub."
Senator Dick Durbin said: "Springfield, the state capital, deserves a reliable and convenient means of getting to and from major transportation hubs like St. Louis. I commend American Airlines for stepping up to fill this need in Springfield. It will make a big difference for those living and doing business in the capital city."
